Bakhouddin Naqshbandi

 Today was our eighth day of practice.The Memorial Complex of Khoja Bakhouddin

Naqshbandi is one of the most important Muslim shrines. Every self-respecting Muslim knows and reveres this name. The great theologian of the XIV century, founder of the Sufi Order "Naqshbandia" was buried 12 km from Bukhara in his native village of Kasri Orifon. Some time ago there was the pagan temple of the site of current tomb of Nagshbandi.



His biography is almost unknown because he prohibited his disciples to chronicle his life and activity. He was thought to be Seyid – a direct descendant of Prophet Mohammed. He was born in a craftsman’s family. His father was a weaver and chaser (Naqshband). But it was his grandfather who played an important role in his life. He was well familiar with Sufis and paid much attention to the religious sciences. Bahouddin Naqshbandi was taught by famous counselors of that time.

Kukeldash Madrasah,

 In Bukhara, near the famous historical complex Lyab-i Hauz, the well-known architectural monument Kukeldash Madrasah is located (built in 1568 - 1569). It is the largest Bukhara madrasah and one of the largest ones in Central Asia. It was built during the reign of Abdullah-Khan II and was funded by Bukhara governor Kulbab who ruled the city under several khans and managed to maintain good relations with all of them.  Kukeldash Madrasah was also a unique building of its time in terms of architecture. Virtually all the madrasahs then had the similar design of a solid rectangle with a large decorated portal and a courtyard. Kukeldash Madrasah has no solid walls. Instead, they are walls with niches and balconies with stucco ornaments. There are 160 hujra cells in the madrasah, filling the both floors along the perimeter of the spacious courtyard. Jo'bor madrasah

The Madrasa is located in the historic center of Buxoro about 20 meters east of the dome bazaar Toqi Zargaron.  Central Asia has seen many rulers who left large footprints on the sands of the history, but Ulugbek will forever remain in the memory of the Central Asian peoples, not only as the grandson of Tamerlane, but also as one of the greatest scholars of Central Asia. Muhammad Tarag’ay (real name of Ulugbek) was born on 22 March1394 in a family of Amir Timur’s youngest son Shahrukh. Since the very infancy Ulugbek was placed under the care of Timur’s favourite wife Saray Mulk Khanum. It had been a regular practice of the Timurid era, so that the parents did not spoil their children.
